Best Spring Break Beaches in the USA

Spring break, which is acknowledged to have started in the mid 1930’s in Fort Lauderdale Florida, is one of the more anticipated periods of a college student’s academic calendar. Due to this early start, Fort Lauderdale became the most popular spring break destination as they played gracious host, year after year, to an ever increasing number of guests. This continued for several decades. However, as the crowds became bigger and more boisterous over the years, sentiments and attitudes of the local residents changed as Fort Lauderdale started to market itself to the older and quieter retirement segment. As such, the spring breakers sought out other beach areas which has resulted in the popularity of several other places outside Fort Lauderdale, but principally proximate to the Texas-Florida shoreline.

South Padre, Texas. It is perhaps one of the most popular beach destinations for spring break vacationers inside the USA. This narrow stretch of island is just three blocks wide and a few miles long; but during spring break season, tens of thousands of college students converge here for one of the biggest and hottest parties anywhere in the country!

Part of its popularity probably stems from the wide coverage it gets from well rated television shows that feature the party happenings in South Padre which is a daily event there during spring break season. And since some of the highlights of the weeklong activity are the huge concerts featuring top-draw artists, it is definitely the place to be in during spring break.

Also going for South Padre is the fact that you can bring and drink your own alcohol on the beach which means you aren’t at the mercy of the bars who charge top dollar for their drinks. Kegs are allowed in the beach. What aren’t allowed anywhere are glass beer bottles.

South Beach, Miami. Another popular spot, South Beach is the place to see and be seen. Even though it is relatively more expensive, South Beach is still very popular. Its wide picturesque beaches are often used in pictorials and fashion shoots. So, when you least expect it, you just might bump into a celebrity or two. Sightseeing around South Beach is another good way to pass the time, as this area is home to the art deco district which is certainly a feast for the eyes. This same district is also an excellent place for street side cafés, which serve food, drinks, and entertainment. The night life is lively and the choices are varied.

Panama City Beach, Florida. A quieter section of beach with lots of water sports possibilities, Panama City Beach is gaining popularity with every year that passes as more and more people discover this panhandle that’s actually a gem. It has also caught the attention of the major consumer brands that are popping in to sponsor some of the big activities for spring break! What this means is that partygoers will have admission to some of the bigger concerts and shows, as well as have access to freebies and product samples during the duration of the season.

Take your pick from these top choices. Whatever you choose, spring break will certainly be a good time to go to any of these venues.
