Senior Travel In Acapulco

Vacationers come from all walks of life and from all ages. It’s great to take a trip outside of your hometown once in a while for a change of setting and atmosphere. And not only that, it’s enriching as well to be able to meet people of another race and learn about their culture and place. For the older group, most of those who travel are retired people in their 50s, 60s, 70s and even 80s especially those who are still up and about. They mostly prefer the beaches as a vacation destination.

A new study by a British insurance company Standard Life Healthcare says that older vacationers are less stressed because they can just easily relax. Specifically, it showed that 50 percent more vacationers under the age of 24 reported feeling stressed compared to those over 55 years old. It added that one-third of travelers use breathing exercises and Yoga to chill out while half just neglect the source of stress in the hope that it will just go away.

A common problem among senior travelers and tourists is that they are too weak to carry their bags. However, this should not be a problem when taxi services are readily available in their place of destination. Fortunately, there are still friendly and courteous taxi drivers who can help carry their luggage. Perhaps, a little tip in addition to the taxi fare will already make them happy.

Another important thing to remember when traveling is to bring your needed medications including vitamins in your carry-on bag. Younger companions should remind the older ones about this so they can still enjoy sightseeing and swimming at the beach as well as experience the nightlife of the city. Check also the hotel you will be staying in if they have a resident nurse or physician available anytime of the day and night in case of emergency. If no doctor or nurse stays in the hotel, make sure that one can be called anytime during emergencies. Ask about this at the front desk.

A standard procedure is to be always courteous to the locals and hotel staff. The hotel service staff are required to give the necessary courtesies to older visitors and naturally, in return they deserve to be treated with the same respect as well. Make peace as much as possible and avoid getting into heated arguments.

For food and drinks, the seniors can go just about anywhere along the Costera Miguel Aleman which is Acapulco’s main street and where the big attractions are located. The hotels have their own bars while the beaches also provide unique bars. For the oldies who still enjoy dancing, the El Alebrije is the place to go. It’s one of the hottest night spots in town that offers dancing to the music of Spanish rock, salsa, merinque and American pop and hip-hop and a drink-all-you-can promo of tropical drinks. The basement is where the dance floor is located while the bar is on the main level with leather couches, coffee tables ideal for relaxation.

A guided historical tour of Acapulco is recommended for senior visitors. It only costs $45 per person. But of course, you can also plan your own trips and tours if you wish to explore the many sections of the city. A general tip, though, is to research first the name of a general location you would like to see such as Pie de la Cuesta, Brisas or Condesa. Then choose several activities to do in two or three days. You can also request for special tours of your own liking by informing the front desk of the hotel you are staying in.
